From a small town to a big flight: Swati Bhargava’s inspirational success story
A girl from a small town in Haryana’s Ambala has proved that location is never a barrier to dreaming big and turning them into reality. Swati Bhargava’s story is not just inspiring but also shows how hard work, determination and the right decisions can change lives.
A journey from Ambala to London
Swati Bhargava’s education was laid in her hometown Ambala. Always a topper in her studies, Swati received a scholarship to Singapore for class 11 and 12. She completed her schooling in Singapore and then joined the London School of Economics (LSE).
While studying at LSE, Swati set big goals for her life. She dreamed of making her family proud and becoming a successful professional. After graduation, she started working at a reputed investment bank and performed brilliantly for five years.
Turning from job to business
However, in these five years Swati realized that she would not be able to fully realize her dreams by doing only a job. Meanwhile, during their honeymoon, Swati and her husband Rohan Bhargava used a cashback site named Quidco in the UK. They earned a cashback of about Rs 10,000 from this site.
This is where they got the idea that a similar platform could be created in India too, which would give online shoppers an opportunity to save through cashback and coupons. With this thought, Swati and Rohan started CashKaro in 2013.
Challenges in the beginning, but unwavering courage
It was not easy for Swati, who comes from a small town, to win the trust of big investors. She had to face many challenges. But instead of giving up, Swati understood the needs of the market and started strengthening the business with her team.
Ratan Tata’s support: Turning point
The big turning point for CashKaro came when veteran industrialist Ratan Tata invested in it. Swati presented her business idea to Ratan Tata at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai. Impressed by her presentation, Ratan Tata immediately decided to invest.
Ratan Tata said, “In a country like India, where people believe in saving every penny, this is a great idea.”
Completed the target of ₹ 300 crores
CashKaro earned a revenue of ₹ 300 crores in 2023-24. The platform is today helping millions of Indians save by providing cashback and coupons on online shopping. Swati’s next goal is to touch a revenue of ₹ 500 crores and take her platform to new heights.
Luxury lifestyle, but simplicity remains
Today Swati Bhargava travels in a luxury car like BMW, but her success is not limited to her lifestyle only. It is the result of her hard work, courage and vision.
Swati’s story is proof that big dreams from small towns can also come true if there is passion and the right direction to fulfill them. She has shown that there is no limit to dreams and all that is needed to make them come true is courage and hard work.
